Texture and Materials Perfect Balance
We always need to strike a certain balance when designing a home's interior, incorporating a variety of materials and textures. Still, there will always be some more predominant than others, according to the client's taste and lifestyle, who dwells in that home. But when styling a house to sell, the approach must be different. We need to open up and balance our selection of items to appeal to a much broader spectrum of preferences, aiming to make everyone feel at home.
Another factor in determining our choices is the house itself, allowing the space to tell its own story, deciding which of its fixtures we want to hide, just a little bit ;) , and which ones we want to highlight. For example, if we are dressing a small, older condo on the beach with gorgeous views that is desperately in need of updates, we will probably select materials that evoke a laid-back style, featuring life on the Gulf, rather than more formal furnishings. And applying the same concept, we would steer in a completely different direction if we were working on an oversized, high-end home in a gated community with golf views; in which case, we have to restrain ourselves from using so many wicker baskets… LOL!!! Although, aren't they cute?!
So, yes, materials and textures are very key to selling a vibe, and in the studio, we take them very seriously. Even though the final result may look almost natural, none of those decisions are accidental. Attention to detail is our unavoidable obsession.
